EXCERPT:
“Nice to meet you, ladies. I’m Luke Sawyer, the resort’s ski instructor.” He stepped closer, the sun bouncing off her blonde hair to make it nearly platinum. He wondered what her perfume was like, if she was the flowery, sweet kind, or the spicy, more flavorful kind. Out here in the packed snow and cold breeze, it was impossible to determine. “Here.” He held out his hand to Liddy, like he had something in his palm. “Hold this for me for a second, would you?”
Either on instinct, or just being polite, she complied, looking at him funny.
Which is exactly what he wanted. He slipped his fingers between hers, and squeezed, then brought her knuckles up, and pulled her in closer.
Her shocked face was priceless. Wide, beautiful, deep hazel eyes that pierced his soul. Parted, pink lips that just ached to be kissed.
“I’ve been wanting to do that ever since I saw you.”
She scowled, and yanked her hand away.
He laughed. “Just trying to loosen you up. You can’t take life too seriously up here.”
“Is that a resort rule,” she spat, “or is that one of your specialty—bumper-sticker anecdotes?” She stepped back toward her friends, clearly unamused.
“Just a hobby. My specialty is far more specific.” He flashed her a grin.
To which she scowled further.
“Sorry,” he chuckled. He glanced at the other two ladies. “Just trying to convince your friend here to let me show her a few things.”
Jordan and Sam giggled. “Yeah, she can be a tough nut to crack sometimes,” Jordan said.
“A real tigress,” Sam chimed in.
“Well, let me know if you change your mind.” He looked at Liddy, drinking in those gorgeous hazel eyes.
“Uh-huh.”
He spun around to head back to the meeting spot and could have sworn he heard Liddy say, You two are gonna pay.
He grinned.
Oh yeah. A little firecracker, that one. He freakin’ loved it.
