Wake up and feel the wood! In the first of a series of irresistible standalone romances from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, a city girl rediscovers love and lust in the Alaskan wilderness.
Valentine French may be the sassiest dating columnist in New York City, but the abundance of metrosexuals in her adopted metropolis is seriously cramping her style. Where are the beefy all-American boys? Hoping to find some inspiration, Val heads to Alaska, where the men outnumber the women fifteen to one and wrestle grizzly bears for sport. Or so she can only imagine. Suddenly the most eligible bachelorette in a town full of horny lumberjacks, Val is writing her best columns ever. But if she doesn’t get her nose out of her laptop, she just might miss out on Mr. Right.
Logan Burke is the sheriff of the little podunk town that Val finds so charmingly backward. He’s not that different from the guys she’s using for her little experiment; it’s just that one date would never be enough for Logan. As he listens to Val complain about love over beers in the local tavern, he realizes that she can’t see the forest for the trees. Because if she would ever give up her Prada bags and fourteen-dollar martinis, Logan would give her the only luxury that matters: his heart.
REVIEW
Valentine French write a blog called Valentine's Couch, wherein she talks about dating, and various other things that tend to embarrass her wealthy family. She is very close to her cousin, Jeremy, so when Valentine gets sick of the New York City dating scene, Jeremy books her a trip to Alaska, where she can see the difference in dating an Alaskan man versus the metrosexual men in Manhattan that she has been dating. Val hops on a plane with her small dog, Sassy and the adventure begins.
This social experiement does not start out well for Val. She is not informed by her cousin that this is not a 5 star resort town and problems begin when she lands in Alaska. The Chief of Police, Logan, comes to her rescue.
Since there are not a lot of women, Val becomes the talk of the town and starts right in on her dating. She blogs about each date, but when she goes on a date with Logan, things begin to change, but she still blogs about her date, in detail. Logan has saved her butt on more than on occasion and he begins to fall for her, but when Logan finds out what Val is really in Alaska to do, things go south quickly.
Sawyer Bennett is one of my new favorite authors and I devour her books. She always write a funny, heart-warmingly endearing book and I know there will be some laughs thrown in for good measure. This book did not disappoint.
