For some reason I went into this book with a preconceived notion that this was going to be another Rock Star/Bad Boy/Love Triangle and already had in the back of my head what I was going to rate it.
Well, I have to say that Mia Kayla proved me wrong in a very good way. As this is my first book by her, I really didn't know what to expect. What I got was this........
Samantha, a young woman, pastry sous chef and fangirl of Hawke of Def Deception. Meets the lead singer/rocker of a band and doesn't fall for his bad boy ways. Samantha wants a fairy tale since her upbringing left her alone and out of sorts.
She meets Hawke and falls for him, but not all over him. That seems to entice Hawke, who looks like he has the world and everything you could want in the palm of his hands. He doesn't, he has problems too. Samantha is not a one night stand kind of girl, but she goes for it, never expecting to hear from Hawke again. Wrong again, she does!
Samantha is shopping for shoes and a nice young man helps her, Josh. He runs into her again at the restaurant where she works and again on the street later on his birthday. He pursues her in a gentlemanly way. They become good friends but it seems Josh cares for Samantha more than she does for him, yet she still wants him in her life.
Samantha seems torn between the two men. She really likes Hawke and she enjoys her friendship with Josh.
At this point, I was thinking, hmmmmmmmmmmmm do I root for Team Hawke or Team Josh. Every time I made a decision, I changed my mind and wavered back and forth.
What I didn't expect was for the ending to be so abrupt and leave me wanting more.....Now I'm patiently waiting for the next book in this series to see how it all play out.
