PREVIOUSLY LOVED TREASURES BY BETTE LEE CROSBY
I was given the opportunity to preview Previously Loved Treasures and then I did a re-read of the final version. I have yet to find a book by Bette Lee Crosby that doesn't pull at my heartstrings.
When you sit down to read a book by Bette it is like someone asked you to come and have a seat on their porch and hang out in a rocking chair to relax. Her characters have so much dimension, her writing style is tinged with southern charm and her story is one that you will remember because you become so invested in the characters.
This story starts with Ida who has just lost her husband and buried him and goes in search of a son that walked out 30 years earlier. What Ida finds is a granddaughter who she loves unconditionally and who loves her back.
During Ida's search for her son, she has to come up with money for the private investigator and through raw grit and determination she finally finds a way to do that. Ida turns her house into a boarding house and the boarders become family. After Ida dies, she leaves the house to her granddaughter, Caroline who steps in and finds the family she never had.
An emotional, heartfelt book that will make you want to keep reading even after the story is finished.
If you have not had an opportunity to read any of her books, you are missing out. Please note that this is the second book in a series. The first book is entitled The Twelfth Child.
